statement
Isra finds the raw material for his work in the constant exploration of imagination, virtuality, design, and the development of strategies of influence as tools to access possible realities and, through them, question the social, economic, and political structures of the contemporary world.
His work encompasses a wide range of media—from installation and video art to performative practices and action art—which he uses to examine the tensions between institutions and society, as well as to provoke processes of exchange, socialization, and collective learning.
Through his practice, Isra fosters an open dialogue about power dynamics and the possibilities of subverting capitalism in everyday life.
His projects are transdisciplinary in nature, converging disciplines such as sociology, autoethnography, video, performance, media art, and activism.
He has participated in various educational programs and residencies, has exhibited both individually and collectively, and currently promotes the activities of La Morgue [gallery], an independent, self-managed space for artistic research, education, and production.
Isra lives and works in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
